Websites and apps for East African tourism businesses.
Charnette Labs builds websites and apps for tour operators, safari companies, DMCs and lodges in Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania and Rwanda. We built the current sites for Wildtouch Tours & Travel in Nairobi and Confidence Africa Tours in Kampala, and our founder has sold African safari travel to the international trade since 2008.
Built for the operator on the ground.
An East African operator has the guides, the vehicles and the ground knowledge, and still loses travellers online to resellers overseas. The website’s job is to close that gap: put what the operator knows in front of the traveller, in a form that Google and AI assistants can read and cite.
That means answering what a traveller asks before they trust anyone. Which country, which month, how many days, what a gorilla permit costs. Then an enquiry that starts a conversation with the people who will run the trip, by form or by WhatsApp.
Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania and Rwanda.
Tour operators & safari companies
Editorial, enquiry-led websites for operators selling safaris, gorilla and primate trekking, birding and tailor-made journeys, built to sell the people who run the trip.
DMCs & ground handlers
B2B trade sites and portals that present ground capability to tour operators and travel agents in the UK, US and Europe.
Lodges & camps
Websites and apps for lodges and camps across the region. Our live East African work so far is for operators, and the same approach carries over to a property.
Two operators, two live sites.
Wildtouch Tours & Travel, Nairobi. An editorial, enquiry-led website for privately guided safaris across Kenya, Tanzania and Rwanda, with destination pages, safari-type and gallery sections, and an enquiry flow that starts a tailored-itinerary conversation in place of a booking engine. Confidence Africa Tours, Kampala. A locally owned Ugandan operator, founded in 2015 by a guide who still leads the trips. The site carries 25 itineraries, eleven destination guides, month-by-month planning data, a page that explains how gorilla permits work in Uganda and Rwanda, and a four-step planner that hands a pre-filled enquiry to the team. They manage trips and destinations themselves through their own admin. Read the Confidence Africa Tours case study →
Common questions
Do you build websites and apps for tourism businesses in East Africa?
Yes. Charnette Labs builds websites and apps for tour operators, safari companies, DMCs and lodges in Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania and Rwanda. We built the current sites for Wildtouch Tours & Travel in Nairobi and Confidence Africa Tours in Kampala. We work exclusively with travel and tourism businesses, and our founder has sold African safari travel to the international trade since 2008.
How much does a website and app cost for an East African tour operator?
A standard build (one website and one app, for iOS and Android) starts from GBP 3,000 + VAT, and hosting and care is from GBP 99 + VAT a month. Terms, conditions and usage limits apply. Until 31 December 2026, new business clients who take 12 months’ hosting and care, paid upfront, pay no build fee for one website and one app, for iOS and Android (limited to the first 25 clients or 31 December 2026, whichever comes first; a case study and testimonial are part of the offer). See the offer. Itinerary builders, trade portals with net rates and reservation system integrations go beyond the standard build and are quoted after a discovery conversation, in GBP, EUR, USD or ZAR.
Which East African tour operators have you built websites for?
Two so far. Wildtouch Tours & Travel in Nairobi sells privately guided safaris across Kenya, Tanzania and Rwanda, and its site is at wildtouchafrica.com. Confidence Africa Tours in Kampala runs gorilla, primate, birding and savannah journeys across Uganda and Rwanda, and its site is at confidenceafricatours.com. Both have a case study on charnette.io/work.
Can you work with a business in Nairobi, Kampala, Arusha or Kigali from the UK?
Yes. We work with East African clients remotely, the same way we work with clients in Southern Africa, the Indian Ocean and Europe. Sites are hosted on a global edge network, so they load quickly for a traveller in London or New York and for your own team in East Africa.
Is Charnette Labs based in East Africa?
No. Charnette Labs is a UK-registered studio (Charnette Ltd, England and Wales). We build for East African tourism businesses remotely, and you deal with the founder directly throughout the project.
Be found first, by the travellers you would guide.
